Scream Factory brings IFC highlights “BACKCOUNTRY” and “THE HARVEST” to disc this fall

Two of the better films released earlier this year by IFC Films on its IFC Midnight line are coming to Blu-ray and DVD via Shout! Factory’s own genre line; read on for the info and first look at the cover art.

The Facebook page of Shout!’s Scream Factory line revealed that BACKCOUNTRY and THE HARVEST (pictured above) will both hit disc September 1; extras for both are in the works and to be announced. BACKCOUNTRY, written and directed by Adam MacDonald, is the suprememly tense story of two campers (Missy Peregrym and Jeff Roop) whose wilderness trip goes very bad thanks to a hungry black bear. See our review here and an interview with MacDonald here. THE HARVEST is the latest genre outing by HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER’s John McNaughton, and focuses on a young, sickly boy who is kept a virtual prisoner by his overprotective parents (Samantha Morton and Michael Shannon). Our review of this one can be found here, and McNaughton talks about the film here.

The discs will retail for $24.97 each, but can already be pre-ordered at the Shout! Factory site for $19.97 (BACKCOUNTRY and HARVEST). Trailers for both can be viewed below; stay tuned for further details!
