[SDCC ’14] See Irish Festival Hit, “THE CANAL” Free!

Ivan Kavanagh’s THE CANAL made a terrific, frightening impression this past spring at New York’s Tribeca Film Festival, and was in turn quickly swept up by our friends at Shock Till You drop and their new distribution venture with The Orchard. Now, as the annual San Diego Comic-Con approaches, Fango is teaming with STYD to bring horror fans headed that way a special early look at the nerve-shredding piece of work.

FANGORIA is co-sponsoring  a very special screening of THE CANAL on Friday, July 25 at San Diego’s Gaslamp 15 (701 5th Avenue). The film sees cinema archivist David Williams (Rupert Evans) learn his home was the scene of a ghastly turn-of-the-century murder. Soon, the dark spirits and sinister history ripples into the present, slowly driving him insane.

I really admired THE CANAL out of Tribeca this spring. The film is intense and ghoulish, an unsettling classical horror story of a family torn apart that’s aware of the long lineage of scary stories it owes to. I’m excited to help give readers and importantly, genre fans, an opportunity to check the film out early.

If you’ll be in San Diego enjoying the Con, and would like to see THE CANAL on Friday, July 25, please e-mail THECANALSDCC@GMAIL.COM with your Full Name. Fango only has 25 pairs to give away, so get submitting.

For more on THE CANAL, see our review here and a batch of exclusive photos below. The Orchard releases THE CANAL this October 2014.
