Short Film Debut: POV Horror-Lampooning, “FOUND”

Like sequels and remakes before it, Found Footage has become ubiquitous in both indie horror and studio fare. Fans, filmmakers, journalists and more are often found disparaging the medium, tired of its shaky aesthetic and ultimate endurance. But why whine, when we can laugh?

Touring the festival circuit throughout 2014 and making its online debut is FOUND, an acclaimed and clever short from Fango’s own Rebekah McKendry. FOUND takes the form of an instructional video, poking at Found Footage—both its more illogical aspects and its seeming neverending flow of films—by revealing where it hails from.

FOUND features appearances from a slew of horror buds, including actor AJ Bowen (THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL, THE SACRAMENT), REPO! filmmaker Darren Lynn Bousman, actor and producer Morgan Peter Brown, BIG ASS SPIDER! director Mike Mendez, Shock Till You Drop’s Ryan Turek and FRIDAY THE 13TH PART III’s Larry Zerner.

So, take a break from fury and have some fun with FOUND.
