Cast & Crew to host FREE “SLEEPAWAY CAMP” NYC Screening on May 19!

The filmmakers and stars of the original SLEEPAWAY CAMP will reunite at a special FANGORIA screening of the classic 1983 slasher flick on Monday, May 19 at 7 p.m. This free showing will be held at New York City’s Cinema Village (22 East 12th Street, off University Place).

The Fango screening of SLEEPAWAY CAMP (guests to be announced shortly) will be a free show; to obtain tickets, send an e-mail to fangoriascreening@gmail.com. You must list “SLEEPAWAY CAMP” as your subject line and provide us your full name. Offer is good for you and one guest. Names will be checked at the door. Offer is first come, first served, and we will confirm your rsvp. Seating is not guaranteed, however. This exclusive event is presented by our pals at Scream Factory, who will release SLEEPAWAY CAMP on a Collector’s Edition Blu-ray/DVD combo disc on May 27. Copies and posters of the movie will be given away at the screening to a lucky few!

Written and directed by Robert Hiltzik and starring Felissa Rose, Jonathan Tiersten and Desiree Gould, SLEEPAWAY CAMP takes place at Camp Arawak. A mysterious slasher is stalking the teenage campers, who die in horribly inventive ways (courtesy of TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE makeup FX artist Ed French). Kent Byron Armstrong, in his book SLASHER FILMS: AN INTERNATIONAL FILMOGRAPHY, called SLEEPAWAY CAMP “a good slasher, with a charming assortment of characters and innovative murder sequences.” In the seminal slasher history GOING TO PIECES, author Adam Rockoff praised SLEEPAWAY CAMP’s “realistic depiction of teenagers, hilarious over-the-top performances and legendary ending.”

No other site brings you free movies like Fangoria.com! See you at the show on May 19!
