“STOKER” clips and featurette; Meet Uncle Charlie and the lot

An extended dip into Park Chan-wook’s stunning English-language debut.

In the below featurette, entitled “Characters,” director Park Chan-wook (OLDBOY, LADY VENGEANCE) explains, “I like films where stories mostly take place in a confined space turning it into a small universe in itself.” As you might imagine, Chan-wook, a master filmmaker, has created such a picture. Beautifully composed, even STOKER’s mesmeric sequences feel self-contained, lulling you with a bizarre, otherworldly and yes, unsettling, coming-of-age.

In STOKER, “after India’s (Mia Wasikowska) father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother Evelyn (Nicole Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.”

Below find the aforementioned featurette, and three clips including a fuller peek at Kidman’s gripping “tear you apart” speech you’ve seen in the trailer. STOKER is out March 1. For more, see our review and pick up FANGORIA #321 (on sale now) for an exclusive talk with Chan-wook.
