Sundance 2015: Something’s at the Door in “THE HALLOW”

An Irish creature feature called THE HALLOW is hoping to take Sundance’s midnight lineup by storm next month. See the film’s first poster and find out more, below.

Starring Bojana Novakovic (DEVIL, DRAG ME TO HELL), Joseph Mawle and Michael Smiley (KILL LIST), THE HALLOW is the latest in an exciting lineup of new Irish horror, which over the course of a few years has featured the likes of THE CANAL, FROM THE DARK, STITCHES, CITADEL, GRABBERS and WAKE WOOD. Based on the strength of the aforementioned films and its selection in the storied Sundance Film Festival, it’s reasonable to anticipate THE HALLOW with some degree of excitement and intrigue.

In the film, directed by Corin Hardy, “a London-based conservationist is sent to Ireland to survey an area of ancient forest believed by the superstitious locals to be hallowed ground. [There], he unwittingly disturbs a horde of terrifying beings and must fight to protect his family.” Empire debuted the poster, and briefly spoke with Hardy—who’s now set to helm the ever-developing CROW reboot—who cites usual suspects and classic mainstays like ALIEN and THE THING as strong influence.
