Take the plunge into award-winning “MIDNIGHT SWIM”; release details setMovies/TV,News Michael Gingold
One of Fango’s favorite films from the fest circuit over the past year is the supernaturally tinged psychodrama THE MIDNIGHT SWIM, and more viewers will be able to experience it this summer.
Production/distribution outfit Candy Factory Films has announced the formation of the Electric Candy releasing arm, which will handle edgier and genre-oriented content, with THE MIDNIGHT SWIM one of its first titles. Coming to select theaters and VOD June 26, the movie (which world-premiered at Montreal’s Fantasia and has won awards at the AFI Fest and others) was written and directed by Sarah Adina Smith in her feature debut, and stars Lindsey Burdge, Jennifer Lafleur, Aleksa Palladino, Beth Grant and Ross Partridge. The synopsis: “When their mother goes missing in Spirit Lake, three half-sisters travel home to settle her affairs. The middle sister, June, a documentary filmmaker, captures their bittersweet homecoming. But when the sisters jokingly summon a local ghost, their relationship begins to unravel and they find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into the true mystery of the lake.”
Other films coming from Electric Candy include Eddie Mullins’ “pre-apocalyptic comedy” DOOMSDAYS and Patrick Ryan’s revenge drama DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN. See our review of THE MIDNIGHT SWIM here, watch the trailer below and visit the film’s official website and Facebook page.
