From an STD to an SUV, CONTRACTED writer/director Eric England now has ROADSIDE driving in, with the news just coming down that the film has been picked up for distribution.
Image Entertainment has announced that it has acquired U.S. rights to ROADSIDE, with release details to be announced. Ace Marrero (from England’s MADISON COUNTY), Katie Stegeman, Lionel D. Carson and Jack E. Curenton star; here’s the synopsis: “ROADSIDE tells the story of Dan and Mindy Summers, who are on a road trip along a desolate mountain highway. When Dan is forced to exit the SUV to remove a dead tree blocking their path, their journey takes a turn. They suddenly find themselves held hostage on the side of the road, and trapped in their car by a mysterious gunman. They must fight for their lives in a sadistic game of cat and mouse set against a backdrop of numbing cold, pitch darkness and raw terror.”
“The suspense and timing of the scenes on this film hark back to the days of Hitchcock,” says Mark Ward of Image parent company RLJ Entertainment. “These are the elements audiences are looking for in a thriller and we’re excited to be working with Eric, Daniel and Ace again.” England is currently working on the sequel CONTRACTED: PHASE II, about the further adventures of the horrific venereal disease.
