“THE CONJURING” trailer debuts with eerie elegance

A wonderfully composed and suspenseful preview of James Wan’s next haunted house picture awaits…

While some pause is to be expected that Wan, of SAW and INSIDIOUS fame, is immediately following his spookhouse spectacular with another tale of spectral intruders, the trailer for THE CONJURING sure is something. A true teaser, THE CONJURING’s clip gives its audience merely a look at the Perron family’s first encounters with those haunting their new home, (hopefully) saving much of the film and whatever scares it holds for the July 19 release. Moreover, the film looks to expand on the wonderful, practical, slow burn frights of INSIDIOUS, building true dread in just a few moments.

Based on the accounts of Ed and Lorraine Warren (possibly best known for their look into the Amityville house. You can also see the real Lorraine Warren on screen this year in the doc, MY AMITYVILLE HORROR), THE CONJURING finds the married paranormal investigators (played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. iTunes premiered.
