“THE FOG” and “MELTING MAN” drip onto new Blu-rays/DVD


Things get wet on disc as Shout! Factory adds two more vintage favorites to its long line of exciting Blu-ray and DVD releases under the Scream Factory banner; read on for art and specs for THE FOG (pictured above) and THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN.

Both titles street July 30, with THE FOG coming in a new Collector’s Edition on both disc formats. John Carpenter’s classic of spectral pirate revenge starring Adrienne Barbeau, Hal Holbrook, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Atkins, Janet Leigh and John Houseman makes its Blu-ray debut with a new hi-def transfer supervised by cinematographer Dean Cundey. The long list of extras includes these brand-new features:

• Audio commentary by Barbeau, Atkins and production designer Tommy Lee Wallace

• Exclusive interview with Curtis discussing THE FOG and covering her legendary early-’80s “scream queen” career

• Retrospective interview with Cundey about his many legendary collaborations with Carpenter

• Horror’s Hallowed Grounds: A look at the film’s locations with host Sean Clark

Plus the following bonuses ported over from the previous MGM DVD:

• Audio commentary by Carpenter and producer/co-writer Debra Hill

Retail prices are $19.93 for the DVD and $29.93 for the Blu-ray; the first 500 who pre-order them at a discount from Shout! (DVD and Blu-ray) will receive an exclusive 18×24-inch poster with the newly commissioned artwork seen below.

Also coming on the 30th is the Blu-ray debut of THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN, William Sachs’ saga of an astronaut who returns from space with a disease that causes him to physically deteriorate and eat the flesh of others. Featuring early makeup FX by monster master Rick Baker, the movie will be presented in 1080p 1.78:1 hi-def widescreen with special features to be announced. Retail price is $19.97.
