This Red Band Trailer reveals a lot of “AFTERSHOCK”

A grisly, four letter word-filled clip from the Eli Roth-scripted Chilean quake tale is probably best worth skipping until you’ve had the chance to see the film.

AFTERSHOCK is a nasty movie. A mean-spirited affair, the film’s degenerate spirit really only gets more so as it wears on, and the fact that its ensemble is a compact one renders much of the latest trailer (aside from the nightclub earthquake chaos) a bit too revealing and out of context. But you should see the movie! Where plenty of horror aims for a 70s feel, AFTERSHOCK nails an atmosphere where the modest budget makes everything a bit scuzzier and unsettling, rather than hokey.

The film, directed by Nicolás López and starring co-writer Roth sees a partying, hapless American tourist and his friends suddenly plunged into a living hell when a powerful earthquake rips through the coastal town of Valparaíso, Chile.

AFTERSHOCK is out on May 10. [IGN]
