Toys of Terror #1

Welcome to TOYS OF TERROR, Fango’s weekly feature exhibiting the coolest horror accessories across the web. Whether you’re a collector, connoisseur or simply making your love of horror a family affair, these petrifying playthings are likely to impress even the most heartless horror fan. So if you’re searching for a ghoulish gift, look no further…

For our first wave of TOYS OF TERROR, we wanted to provide a little something for every kind of horror fan. Whether your tastes are exquisite or humble, classic or modern, abhorrent or adorable, you’ll likely find something here that tickles your macabre curiosity.

First up, we have NECA’s reproduction of the iconic ALIEN Egg, which glows with colorful light before launching a miniature facehugger at the nearest life form. At 4.5 inches in height, the incredibly detailed replication of this iconic prop is as impressive as it is mischievously fun. NECA, which has done solid figure work for the ALIEN franchise in the past, offers a newer level of interactivity with this item, and it’s reasonably fair priced, coming with a $24.99 price tag.

Next comes from custom figure merchant Distinctive Dummies, who present their stunning 12” figurine of HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL’s Frederick Loren, famously played by Vincent Price. Offered in both color and monochrome, this limited run figure comes in at a pricey $110 (which includes international shipping), but the high cost comes for good reason: this one-of-a-kind figure comes with both a custom-printed box and personally crafted clothing. For Price superfans and lovers of classic horror, Distinctive Dummies’ Loren is a must-buy, and you can acquire yours here.

Our third frightening accessory comes from Diamond Select Toys, and for the many of you that tune into THE WALKING DEAD, this is right up your alley. Inspired by a dispatched zombie from the comic series, this solid metal bottle opener adds a gruesome edge to the enjoyment of any tasty beverage. Around 3.5 inches in length, this opener also comes with a magnet on the back, so you can display your freaky fandom proudly when it’s not in use. Currently valued at $18, zombie aficionados can add this relatively cheap item to their collection here.

Many genre toy collectors will be familiar with the brand behind our next item, as Funko has created some of the cutest representations evil ever released. So when you need a quick pick-me-up, you can get the clown prince of terror, Captain Spaulding, as you’ve never seen him before: as an adorable 3 and ¾” vinyl figure! Although it won’t be available to the public for another month, you can preorder this figure now for $9.99 here!

Last but not least, we round out our first TOYS OF TERROR with the most terrifying toy of them all, Chucky! Mezco is looking to release the definitive version of the baddest Good Guy around, battle scars and all, later this summer. Standing at 15” tall, this incredibly rendered figure features 11 points of articulation, as well as real cloth Good Guy digs and his weapon of choice, a large knife. Currently at $74.99, this figure is hotly anticipated ahead of its July shipping date, but you can preorder yours here, right now!
