Welcome to TOYS OF TERROR, Fango’s weekly feature exhibiting the coolest horror accessories across the web. Whether you’re a collector, connoisseur or simply making your love of horror a family affair, these petrifying playthings are likely to impress even the most heartless horror fan. So if you’re searching for a ghoulish gift, look no further…
This week, I begin Toys of Terror with a figure that’s most unattainable: SALEM’S LOT’s Kurt Barlow from Distinctive Dummies! Artist Steve Thompson brings this iconic creature to action figure notoriety, standing at 12-inches tall. Coming with collectible box art and custom handmade clothing, this Barlow figure went quicker than most of the Distinctive Dummies, leaving it currently out of stock. However, due to high demand, few figures will be open for purchase later this month, so if you’ve got the $100 to fit the pricetag, you may be able to RSVP this Barlow replica for purchase here.
Next up is another one for collector’s only, as only 3,000 of these bad boys were ever produced: THE DEVIL’S REJECTS 2-pack featuring Captain Spaulding and Baby Driftwood! Made by NECA as a San Diego Comic Con exclusive last year, both of these figures are painstakingly replicated in the visage of Sid Haig and Sherri Moon-Zombie, respectively. Standing at 6-inches tall a piece, hardcore Rob Zombie fans can get their hands on these rare replicas for $59.95 here.
Our third Toy of Terror this week is a package for those who like their Dracula with the classiest production values: a two-pack of the transformed count from BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA. With both figures standing at 6-inches tall, these figures from McFarlane Toys show Dracula in his wolf and bat forms straight from Francis Ford Coppola’s adaptation. Fully articulated with select accessories, you can get these BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA figures for $69.95 here.
Coming in at number four this week is a cinematic monster who doesn’t get his proper due nearly as much as he should: the titular antagonist from BUBBA HO-TEP! Straight from NECA’s Cult Classics series, this BUBBA HO-TEP figure stands at 7-inches tall and is accurately replicated from his on-screen visage. While supplies are limited, you can get this figure for relatively cheap ($19.95) here.
Our last Toy of Terror this week may be more for the STARLOG crowd, yet represents some of the more terrifying creatures of an intense movie: the Trilobite and Battle-Damaged Engineer from PROMETHEUS! Once again a NECA exclusive, these figures carry their own unique deco with the Engineer holding over 20 points of articulation whilst the Trilobite features ball-jointed tentacles. With the Engineer standing at 9-inches tall and the Trilobite measuring almost 17-inches from end to end, these massive figures are in extremely limited stock and can be yours for only $21.99 here.
