Toys of Terror #35

,,,

Welcome to TOYS OF TERROR, Fango’s weekly feature exhibiting the coolest horror accessories across the web. Whether you’re a collector, connoisseur or simply making your love of horror a family affair, these petrifying playthings are likely to impress even the most heartless horror fan. So if you’re searching for a ghoulish gift, look no further…

Our first Toy of Terror this week is possibly the ultimate collectible ever featured in this column’s history, but for very good reason: it’s a 1:1 scale model of the titular creature of AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON! 8-feet-long from front to back, this life-size collectible features authentic yak fur on it’s body, resin mouth & teeth, glass eyes and steel armature inside a molded polyform body. This incredible model also splits at the waist for storage / display purposes as well! Now, onto the cursed news: this collectible is incredibly rare and comes with a hefty price-tag of $5,500, so if you’ve got some massive scratch and you have to have it, you can grab this beast for the aforementioned price here.

The second entry this week is a former San Diego Comic Con exclusive, but one that will evoke memories of frustrated 8-bit gaming for a whole generation of horror fans. That’s right, you guessed it: it’s NECA’s Video Game Jason Voorhees replica! This figure stands at 8-inches tall and includes an accurate translation of the character’s signature look, including purple outfit, glow-in-the-dark removable mask and features, and a slew of accessories including a machete, ax and harpoon gun. You can grab this bad boy for your shelf for $29.99 here.

Up next this week is a contribution from Moebius Models via the always-impressive Sideshow Collectibles, as the company offers up the original gruesome twosome: THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN and The Creature himself! Featuring the authentic likeness of both Boris Karloff and Elsa Lancaster in their respective roles, this 10″ high x 13.5″  wide x 9″ long figure is sculpted by the esteemed Jeff Yagher and features a detailed based with a bench, lab equipment and a half-wall. Perhaps the most accurate and definitive replica of the characters, you can get this replica for $329.99 (or a $74.25 a month payment plan) here.

Our fourth Toy of Terror was one of the few highlighted in our exclusive chat with Todd McFarlane last year, and has now finally made its way to shelves: THE WALKING DEAD mini-figure building set! Featuring a detailed and accurate replica of The Governor’s zombie-laden lair, complete with illuminated floating head fish tanks and his zombified daughter, this level 5 kit comes with 292 individual pieces to bring this scene to life. Hitting this April from McFarlane Toys, you can pre-order this next stage of WALKING DEAD collectibles for $29.99 here.

Last, but not least, is something for the DYI collectors out there, especially those who fancy themselves a frightfully good painter: the LEGEND head bust of Darkness! A 1/4 scale accurate resin bust of Tim Curry’s character from the Ridley Scott film, this easy-to-assemble model kit also comes with both red and black paints for complete accuracy! So for those looking to spend their winters with a petrifying project, you can get this replica for $64.99 here.
