First Trailer: WWE Revamps “LEPRECHAUN”

Bypassing theatrical release, and hitting VOD and DVD this August is WWE’s curious “reboot” of LEPRECHAUN, starring Dylan “Hornswoggle” Postl in the title role. Of course, last year’s CURSE OF CHUCKY had a similar release pattern and, like LEPRECHAUN: ORIGINS, with its more serious intent, hit the spot for many fans and admirers of that series. Will ORIGINS have as much success?

EW debuted the first, full trailer for LEPRECHAUN: ORIGINS and as most will note, we’re still yet to see Postl as the titular terror. What results then is a trailer that seems to preview any kind of homogenous horror. There’s hiking young adults, a small village, old mythology and something that runs quickly past a window. More officially, LEPRECHAUN: ORIGINS concerns two couples who visit Ireland and “quickly discover the idyllic land is not what it appears to be be when [a] town’s residents offer the hikers an old cabin at the edge of the woods. Soon, the friends will find that one of Ireland’s most famous legends is a terrifying reality.”

So, will LEPRECHAUN: ORIGINS differentiate itself? We’ll find out August 26, when the film hits VOD. Blu and DVD follow on September 30.
