Trailer: NBC’s upcoming “DRACULA” series

“Your mission entails a very long journey, sir.” Whether we’re talking of Dracula’s London trip, or Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ conquering of England’s past centuries on screen, we’ll never know.

NBC is bringing the classic, and endlessly adapted tale of iconic vampire Count Dracula to your DVR next autumn. This time, Meyers’ essays the titular figure, who’s posing as an electricity-interested American in London with both revenge and, as expected, reincarnated love on his mind. It seems as if the series will pick up directly with Dracula’s arrival, so no castle or Jonathan Harker visit in sight. Flashbacks,  fencing and slow motion swordplay, however, are in store.

It’s the late 19th century, and the mysterious Dracula has arrived in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. He’s especially interested in the new technology of electricity, which promises to brighten the night – useful for someone who avoids the sun. But he has another reason for his travels: he hopes to take revenge on those who cursed him with immortality centuries earlier. Everything seems to be going according to plan… until he becomes infatuated with a woman who appears to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.

It looks very lovely and such. We’ll see how DRACULA shapes up on Fridays this fall.
