Trailer, Release Info: Oren Peli’s delayed “PARANORMAL” follow-up, “AREA 51”

The day has finally come, horror fans. Oren Peli’s perpetually gestating directorial follow-up to PARANORMAL ACTIVITY is finally getting a release; in fact, for select markets, fright fans can even see the film for themselves on the big screen.

Deadline reports that AREA 51, which first began production in 2009 and has since gone through multiple rewrites, reshoots and re-edits, will be released by Paramount’s newest subdivision, Paramount Insurge, on May 15th. The film’s release will mostly take advantage of a VOD platform, but the film will also get an exclusive one-week theatrical engagement at all 16 Alamo Drafthouse locations. So if you’re nearby an Alamo Drafthouse, make sure to mark May 15th down so that you can properly plan your screening parties and go do what you know in your heart you want to do so badly: see Oren Peli’s AREA 51.

And even more exciting is that the first trailer for Blumhouse’s found footage frightener also dropped today; take a look for yourself below…
