Universal’s new “WOLF MAN” gets a date

Not a date as in love interest, as a cast has yet to be secured, but there is now a specific night when the moon will be full and bright for Universal’s classic-monster reboot.

Box Office Mojo has the new WOLF MAN slotted for March 30, 2018, apparently confirming that this is the formerly “Untitled Universal Monster Franchise Film” previously announced for that date. The only talent attached so far for the hairy one’s latest adventure has been scriptwriter Aaron Guzikowski of PRISONERS and the Sundance Channel’s THE RED ROAD. THE WOLF MAN will follow Universal’s resurrection of THE MUMMY, which opens March 24, 2017 with Tom Cruise potentially starring (see story here). The studio, of course, previously updated the Lon Chaney Jr. classic with 2010’s Benicio Del Toro-starring THE WOLFMAN; unlike that period piece, the new movie will reportedly be set in the present day.
