“V/H/S/2” red band trailer: Bursting with blood

A peek into the wraparound and a whole lot of holy shit from the segments, this V/H/S/2 preview promises a frenzied, upped ante.

I loved V/H/S/2 at Sundance (review) and suspect/hope many of you will, too. It’s brash, energetic and captures a bigger, more insane scale from its ground floor, found footage perspective. The film sees contributions from returning filmmakers Adam Wingard & Simon Barrett (YOU’RE NEXT), THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT’s Eduardo Sanchez & Gregg Hale, HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN’s Jason Eisener and finally and kind of most spectacularly, a teamup of THE RAID and MACABRE directors Gareth Evans & Timo Tjahjanto. In it, two private investigators searching for a missing student break into his abandoned house and find another collection of mysterious VHS tapes. In viewing the horrific contents of each cassette, they realize there may be terrifying motives behind the student’s disappearance.

I was slightly worried the red band trailer would reveal a moment that literally brought my hands in the air. Thankfully, the clip remains seriously red while keeping that special and a surprise. V/H/S/2 is On Demand June 6 and in select theaters July 12.
