Watch: “THE STOMACH” Director’s Vampire Short, “THE FLEA”

Ben Steiner’s THE STOMACH is flooring. Deservedly winning Fantastic Fest’s Short Fuse section, the film is enveloping, imaginative and squalid, and spins psychic mediums and crime yarns in a really neat way in just 15 minutes. Turns out Steiner is no stranger to inventive little spins. The filmmaker, who FANGORIA spoke with here, wrote that his previous short, a vampire tale entitled THE FLEA is online in full. You should watch it below.

Sordid, raw and scuzzy in its story of an estranged vampire hunting team, THE FLEA feels reminiscent of MARTIN in its realistic, lo-fi aesthetic. As THE STOMACH tours fests—New York, I’ll have news for you soon—you’d do well to take a few minutes on this October day and acquaint yourself with THE FLEA and Steiner. We’ll certainly be seeing more from him.
