Well Go USA Takes Mo Bros’ Ultraviolent Thriller, “KILLERS”

Well Go USA, which already nabbed the immensely fun Nazi Zombie saga DEAD SNOW; RED VS. DEAD out of Sundance has acquired another of the festival’s Midnighters for distribution: the hotly anticipated thriller from Indonesian filmmaking team The Mo brothers, KILLERS.

An absolutely punishing thriller from the directors behind MACABRE, KILLERS is an ultraviolent, lengthy look at two men (one Indonesian, one Japanese) who give into their violent impulses for entirely different reasons and end up forming a rivalry/bond because of it. Kimo Stamboel and Timo Tjahjanto’s film ends up something of an exhausting look at the difference between “cinematic psychopath” and someone truly driven to the edge in the process, and is often powerful throughout.

Produced by Stamboel and Tjahjanto, as well as XYZ Films and the legendary Nikkatsu, KILLERS will hit stateside via Well Go USA, who’s already well versed in bringing Asian genre cinema to the U.S. The Wrap is reporting Well Go plans a late 2014 release for the film.
