Zachary Quinto’s 3D “BANSHEE” gets U.S. distrib

The people behind the 3D horror film THE BANSHEE CHAPTER (including the new STAR TREK films’ Zachary Quinto, one of the executive producers) have something to shout about, as the movie has just been picked up for Stateside release.

XLrator Media has announced that it has snapped up all U.S. rights to THE BANSHEE CHAPTER (which we first reported on here), written and directed by Blair Erickson and starring THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS’ Ted Levine, Katia Winter and TRUE BLOOD’s Michael McMillian. According to the official synopsis, “THE BANSHEE CHAPTER centers on a female journalist [Winter] who follows the mysterious trail of a missing friend [McMillian] who had been experimenting with mind-altering chemicals developed in secret government drug tests. A fast-paced blend of fact and fiction, the story is based on real documents, actual test subject testimony, and uncovered secrets about covert programs run by the CIA.”

Says Quinto, who is partnered with Neal Dodson in Before the Door Pictures, which was also behind the Oscar-nominated MARGIN CALL, “In keeping with our commitment to foster first-time feature directors, Before the Door is proud of our collaboration with THE BANSHEE CHAPTER writer/director Blair Erickson. He has created a movie that is as scary as it is intelligent and rooted in a fascinating and factual historical context. We’re excited about partnering with XLrator Media to bring this unique vision to audiences this fall.” Specific release details are yet to be announced; XLrator has the Soska Sisters’ AMERICAN MARY hitting VOD May 16 and theaters May 31.
